From all over the UK 3am bring you their version of Rhythm-and-Blues (old style) working with tunes from Janis Joplin, Stone the Crows, Vinegar Joe and some self-penned works together with their version of some long-term classics.

3am band

3am

A year of development; the introduction to "The Blues Weekend" at Sinah Warren for Boogaloo Promotions won many friends for the band and our thanks to all those who worked with us. We follow this up with a gig later in the year at Farnham Maltings.

The Mayfest was huge for us, great to play on a big stage, great to work with sound engineers and monitor crew, this where the band wants to be.......also at the Chinnor Bike Fest.

To those who have yet to see the band we have been developing our own songs and have for sale "The White Album", recorded live at The Red Lion in High Wycombe (great gig!), in celebration of the band's 50th live appearance!!!!!!!!!! The CD features great versions of "Since I fell" and "One Good Man"!!!!

"My Version" (Good Times) is a song developed by 3am from a number played by Reign in the 1970s and part-penned by Robin Le Mesurier who worked with Andy and Tim in this previous band before going on to play and record with Rod Stewart. This song can be heard on this site from the player at the top right of your screen. The new lyrics written by Tim are a reflection of many nights at gigs and music venues shared with his daughters, one always in music now works for Primary Talent, the other an artist.

"Red Hot and Blue at the Paradise Bar" written after two gigs, one in Prague and one in Richmond by Jamie Marshall and quietly dedicated to this marvelous singer/songwriter. "Cold Harbour Woman" is a lonely farewell in a rainy dockyard. The now regular set favourites; "Simple Suggestion" and "Sister Sunshine" come from the Black/Turner camp; this string of songs is now augmented by the rocking "Throw me a Line" which usually introduces the up-beat section at the end of the set. All these songs are developed by 3am, hugely influenced by the arrangement skills of Chris Parren and represent the band's own particular brand of Rhythm and Blues.

3am stamp their own identity on the standards; "Summertime" dragged from Gershwin kicking and screaming through Janis Joplin to become this 3am stunner!!; "I saw her standing there", Trev's favourite, is given a rhythm and blues treatment with tongue-in-cheek introduction and off-beat rhythm, "Walking the Dog" owes more to the mighty Aerosmith than to Rufus Thomas.

Much of the 3am set is devoted to songs by Stone the Crows, (we went to see Maggie Bell perform at the 100 Club earlier in the year) Janis Joplin and Vinegar Joe, as the band has a similar line-up to these bands and the songs are chosen to compliment Helen's voice. Chris who worked with Maggie Bell brings authentic flavour to these tunes introducing less heard material to the set such as "Sweet Lovin' Woman" from the recently re-issued "Midnight Flyer" album.

Again thanks to our supporters and friends, thanks to all those venues on the gig list especially the Mayfest, Red Lions Stevenage and High Wycombe) The Horns and The Retreat. Se you all leter in the year!

To everyone else who loves Rhythm and Blues, come and see us!!!!!!
