The new album from 3am featuring three covers, the first “Sweet Loving Woman” performed originally and written by “Midnight Flyer” the band Maggie Bell set up for her last 70′s album. Chris Parren was in this band to tour America with AC/DC.
“Someone to Love”, a Percy Mayfield tune shows off Laura’s vocal dexterity and is a powerful anti-violence blues tune over a colourful chord pattern.
“Early Monday Morning”, a Vinegar Joe tune originally featuring Elkie Brooks. This 3am version features a guest saxaphone solo by Oli Arlotto.
The new songs end with the driving “Highway”,inspired by a Lee Roy Parnell tune, which follows the moody “Insatiable”, colours here include great keys and some lap steel guitar.
“Won’t get fooled again” with “For the First Time” based on a weekend in Budapest are 3am blues-rock numbers.
Andy’s”Tomorrow” is the band’s first true ballad and “Know your Man” has Palm Court overtones, yet another song about love gone bad.
The album itself is a well-balanced listen and is now adopted by the band as the first live set at gigs.
